Description
This photo took some experimentation as I had moved to a very dark hilltop outside of town as the end of the eclipse was nearing. I looked up and wondered if I could get the Milky Way and the moon in the same wide angle shot. Usually a full moon washes out the Milky Way but the eclipse darkened the moon so much that it was possible to capture the scene. I still had to make two exposures, one long one to get the Milky Way and a shorter one to get the red moon. I extracted the moon and put it in the longer exposure shot to show what looking almost straight up actually looked like last night.

Tim Kirchoff replied:
Thank you Denise. I was trying to capture a unique photo of the eclipsed moon and was very happy that this situation presented itself and it turned out well.
